Let me see if I understand you correctly. You have an AT server running on machine "foo", and you are trying to connect to that server from client "bar".
When you start your server on machine "foo", you need to make a note of what your xml and json ports are. Then when you start your client on machine "bar", click on the settings button, choose the appropriate protocol and fill in the port and server name information as needed. As long as you have the port information correct, you should have no problem connecting.
The only gotcha would be to make sure that your AT server is actually running before you try to connect your client to it. A quick glance at the log files should tell you that.
